    I know exactly what you mean. For me it’s the smell of espresso brewing in a stovetop percolator and marinara simmering on the stove–that’s the aroma that used to greet us at my Nonna’s house when we’d walk in the door (pasta for dinner and coffee to perk us up after the drive). I very rarely have occasion to make coffee while fixing pasta sauce, but when I do, the smell takes me straight back to her kitchen, even if my sauce is never quite as good as hers was.

    thank you for sharing this one. I find myself in much the same mind set lately, mostly due to having the house on the market and so much uncertainty going on
    I got a wiff of violets not too long ago at Lowe’s in the plant area and it almost knocked me over – I was spinning back to my grandparents and just stood there with my eyes closed breathing it in. I’m sure the other shoppers thought I was nuts but it is what it is
